Once at the port of Marina Grande in Capri, you can reach Anacapri in various ways. By bus, there is a direct line Marina Grande - Anacapri in connection with certain shipping links; otherwise, you can get first one bus to Capri and then a second bus to Anacapri. Capri center can also be reached from Marina Grande by the Funicular, the typical Capri's cable car.
Arrived in Anacapri, get off at Piazza Vittoria (Victoria Square) and take Via Orlandi that is right in front of you. Follow the main street and in 5 minutes you will arrive in Piazza San Nicola: here, having Saint Michael Church in front of you, the entrance of our bed & breakfast is the first gate on the right, at the beginning of Via Finestrale.
Piazza San Nicola is the heart of the historic center of Anacapri, a wide and quiet pedestrian area. Thanks to the convenient central location, however, public trasports can be very easily used. Just in 5 minutes, in fact, you can reach the main bus stop for Capri, Marina Piccola and Marina Grande, as well as the bus terminal for the Lighthouse and the Blue Grotto.
In Piazza San Nicola, and attacched to our B&B, there is the monumental St Michael's church, with its splendid majolica floor depicting the expulsion of Adam and Eve from Eden. The suite Il Coretto, incorporated in the church and once connected to it by a door and openings still existing, was precisely the place where the nuns followed the religious service. At 1 minute from the Antico Monastero stands the sixteenth-century parish church of St. Sophia, in Piazza Diaz, decorated with beautiful tiled seats and central point of Via Giuseppe Orlandi. Via Orlandi is the main street of Anacapri, where there are bars, restaurants, grocery stores, as well as boutiques, tobacco shops and a book store.
Walking along the main street, after a few steps you will be in front of the Art Gallery of Casa Rossa (Red House), an original nineteenth century building which houses an important collection of paintings on the theme of Capri. In 5 minutes you arrive at Piazza Vittoria, where, in addition to the taxi stand, you will also find the station of the chairlift to Mount Solaro and the romantic road to the Villa San Michele, the home of Swedish doctor Axel Munthe, now a museum, connected to the above ecological oasis of WWF on the Barbarossa Castle. Following the opposite direction, in a few minutes you will be in Caprile, a suburb of the town immersed in the sun of midday, terraced to the sea, linked to different events and people of culture. Even closer to the bed and breakfasts are Le Boffe, one of the oldest settlements of Anacapri. Via Finestrale (Finestrale Street), which takes its name from the large windows of the monastery, will accompany you there with its gentle and typical curves.
From the center of the town, it is easy to reach even the most remote areas of Capri, because is on the center that converge the paths to the hermitage of Santa Maria a Cetrella, spectacularly perched over the sea of Capri, to the Belvedere of the Migliera, near the Philosophical Park and overlooking the Faraglioni rocks and the Lighthouse of Punta Carena, to the Tower of La Guardia, the Path of the Forts, the ruins of the Roman Villa Damecuta and, finally, the Blue Grotto, the most famous treasures of Anacapri. For these destinations, those who choose Anacapri as their "Apragopoli", that means "City of the lazy people", citing the greek inscription engraved on the entrance of the Red House, will find very easy to reach the bus stops in just 5 minutes from their room.
